991.2 GT2 RS MR WEISSACH
The Birth of the GT2 RS
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS was never conceived as a styling exercise or limited-edition indulgence. Its purpose was far more direct. Porsche wanted to prove, unequivocally, what the 911 platform was still capable of when pushed without compromise. At a time when technology, weight, and complexity were increasing across the industry, the GT2 RS was born as a counterpoint — lighter, more focused, and unapologetically demanding.
This was not designed as a pure track car in the traditional sense, nor a softened road machine. Instead, Porsche set out to build the most extreme road-legal 911 it had ever produced, carrying motorsport thinking straight from Weissach to public roads. Rear-wheel drive was a deliberate decision, preserving driver responsibility and engagement over ultimate safety margins. Turbocharging delivered overwhelming performance, but only when matched with discipline and control.
Inevitably, the benchmark became the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Not as a marketing target, but as a validation tool. The Nordschleife remains the ultimate environment for stress-testing balance, cooling, braking, and aero under sustained load. When the GT2 RS claimed its place at the top, it wasn’t about being “king” for headlines — it was proof that every engineering decision worked together under the harshest conditions imaginable.
The GT2 RS exists because Porsche believed the 911 still had something left to say. Not about comfort. Not about accessibility. But about focus, consequence, and the deep satisfaction that comes when engineering and intent align perfectly.

The Engineering Beneath the Experience
At its core, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach is defined by deliberate engineering decisions, not excess. A 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six produces 700 PS, tuned for response rather than drama. Power is delivered exclusively to the rear through a seven-speed PDK transmission. This layout preserves throttle sensitivity, traction balance, and genuine driver responsibility. Cooling, intake flow, and turbo efficiency were all redesigned for sustained high-load driving. The result is power that feels mechanical, immediate, and deeply intentional.
Weight reduction shapes how the car behaves as much as outright output. Carbon fibre panels, titanium roll cage, and magnesium wheels reduce mass significantly. Lower unsprung weight sharpens turn-in and improves suspension response across surfaces. Spring rates, damping, and geometry prioritise stability without muting road feedback. Steering remains hydraulic, chosen for clarity rather than isolation or assistance. Every chassis decision serves communication before comfort or forgiveness.
Aerodynamics were developed to provide stability without overwhelming the driver. Downforce increases with speed, improving confidence rather than forcing reliance. Large rear wing, front aero, and underbody work in measured harmony. Nothing here exists to impress visually without contributing dynamically. Like great coffee, understanding comes from knowing why each element exists. This car rewards those who value both numbers and the meaning behind them.

The Details
The Nürburgring king makes a striking appearance: the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach, fitted with the full Manthey Racing MR conversion.
Developed with a singular focus on circuit performance, the GT2 RS MR recorded an extraordinary 6:43.300 lap time around the Nürburgring Nordschleife (20.8km), securing the road-legal lap record in 2021.
The Manthey Racing package features MR suspension, a comprehensive MR aero kit, an enlarged water tank, MR brakes, and lightweight MR magnesium wheels. Each component is tested extensively by Manthey over 30,000km to ensure durability and consistency at the limit. The car is also accompanied by a spare set of GT2 RS magnesium wheels.
Originally delivered to Porsche on 23rd March 2018, the car has been maintained exclusively within the Porsche network, with the next service due in November 2026, and remains covered by Porsche Extended Warranty. Having had just two owners from new, it is finished in a distressed Martini livery, giving it an unmistakable ex-Le Mans race-car presence.
The Manthey Racing conversion was completed in 2021, and the car stands today as one of the most extreme and capable road-legal 911s ever produced — a true benchmark for track-focused performance.
