LAFERRARI
The Future, Done the Ferrari Way
The LaFerrari was not created to invent the hypercar — Ferrari had already defined the genre with cars like the 288 GTO, F40, F50, and Enzo. Instead, LaFerrari was Maranello’s response to a new era.
By the early 2010s, rivals were beginning to explore hybrid technology not as a compromise, but as a performance advantage. Ferrari’s answer was characteristically uncompromising: rather than dilute the driving experience, hybridisation would be used solely to enhance it. Designed as a technological flagship, LaFerrari combined a naturally aspirated V12 with Formula 1–derived hybrid systems to deliver maximum performance at all times, without electric-only modes or efficiency-driven concessions.
In doing so, Ferrari set out to prove a point — that innovation should serve emotion, and that progress should never come at the expense of soul. LaFerrari exists not as a reactionary exercise, but as Ferrari reaffirming leadership in a changing world: embracing new technology, on its own terms.

Ferrari with a Difference
Launched in 2013, the LaFerrari marked Ferrari’s first step into the era of hybrid hypercars. Breaking away from the familiar “F” nomenclature, it followed the roughly ten-year cadence that separated the F50 from the Enzo, while staying true to Ferrari’s established halo-car formula.
At its heart sits a naturally aspirated V12, enhanced by an electric motor delivering an additional 160hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. Together, the system produces a combined output of 950bhp and 715 lb-ft of torque. Unlike rival systems offering electric-only driving modes, LaFerrari’s hybrid setup was engineered to operate continuously at maximum performance, delivering a seamless “torque-fill” effect alongside the V12.
Derived directly from Formula 1 technology, energy regeneration occurs at every opportunity, with braking, ABS, traction control, and the E-Diff all contributing to recuperation. The result is a car that delivers more power with less weight than any of the hypercar “trilogy,” cementing LaFerrari’s place as both a technical benchmark and a lasting poster-car icon.
Limited to just 499 examples, LaFerrari production was reserved exclusively for Ferrari’s most loyal clients. Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in Rosso Corsa, many examples were specified to echo the original launch car — a fitting tribute to one of Maranello’s most celebrated creations.
